To Win, Conservatives Must Admit We're Losing | Opinion

The time for conservatives to play defense is over. Since the election, the Left is trying to put us back on defense. We can't let that happen. In order to win the culture war, conservatives must admit how much we have already lost.

Since the 1960s, conservatives in America have slowly relinquished to the radical left the institutions that form the moral backbone of our society: marriage and the family, the public school system, music and entertainment.

Enough is enough. Conservatives and thinking people across the country must now play offense in the culture war, if we are going to win. We can no longer simply whine and commiserate amongst ourselves about the degradation of society. We must recover, reclaim and restore our culture.

I know firsthand the uphill climb conservatives face. Facebook demonetized my page, and on YouTube, my videos have been yanked and censored for talking about the unethical use of puberty blocker drugs on children, intended to chemically castrate them. At my mere mention of masks and COVID-19, Instagram slapped a danger warning on top of my content.

I wish these were isolated incidents. They're not. I am far from the only conservative facing this censorship.

But Americans don't want to sit and watch as Big Tech suppresses conservative voices on social media and bumbling Republicans in Congress clamor for the approval of their radical Leftist foes. People want more than official narratives. They want reality.

The culture war raging in our nation isn't simply partisan bickering about what's true and what's false. It's a battle for reality.

Conservatives have spent decades defending the one-yard line, acquiescing little by little as we creep closer to the point of no return. Don't get me wrong, conservatives do claim cultural victories—particularly regarding public opinion on abortion and life—and should be proud of that. But on the vast majority of cultural battlegrounds, the radical Left is overtaking reality with delusion. The examples abound.

Are we going to let biological men compete against women in sports, and even break women's world records?

Are we going to allow state governments to deny funding to a shelter for women and girls who were sex trafficked just because it is designated for biological women, and not for biological men who identify as women?

Are we going to stay quiet while the Left weaponizes emergencies to restrict our rights and shut down our businesses? Are we going to obey anti-science public health officials who force our children to wear masks and shut down schools even though kids are more likely to die of the flu than from COVID-19 and schools are not a significant vector of transmission?

Are we going to sit back while Asian Americans face college admission discrimination for being successful and the Left tells white children they are inherently racist because of the color of their skin?

Are we going to stand idly by while Democrats in elected office and on cable news trample the American idea of equality for all and instead try to normalize "equity"—a euphemism for denying rights to certain people based on immutable characteristics like skin color, race, gender, religion and sexuality?

That's not the America I want for my daughter, and it's why I launched The Liz Wheeler Show. It's time to fight back against the radical Leftist assault on reality and do something. Our culture is in critical condition. We can't play defense any longer.

As of 2019, millennials overtook Baby Boomers as America's largest living adult population, according to the U.S. Census bureau. This means, for the foreseeable future, in every presidential and midterm election millennials have the potential to be the largest voting demographic in America, if they turn out to vote. Those same millennials, those between the ages of 25 and 40, have spent much of their lives being indoctrinated with the critical race theory, political correctness and anti-Christian propaganda in public schools, online and from Hollywood.

My generation needs a defining voice of reason. A voice uncontrolled by corporate overlords, undeterred by Leftist hatred, uncensored, unapologetic, unafraid to play offense in America's culture war and grounded in the principles that make our nation the last best hope of the world.

We must be optimistic skeptics. We must read the scientific journals on COVID-19, masking and lockdowns ourselves. We must download Planned Parenthood's annual report to see for ourselves how the organization deploys shady accounting for its wildly misleading claim that abortion is only a small part of its business. We must sift through the Georgia, Florida and Texas voting legislation line by line to see what provisions the bills actually contain (and what they don't). We must do the research.

If we don't fight, if we don't refuse to back down, if we don't play offense against the radical Leftist assault on reality, we'll lose. We see that already when we look at the enormous power teachers' unions wield after the Right surrendered the fight for public schools decades ago. Imagine if every institution in our nation were compromised at that level.

Conservatives need bold leaders who care about effectiveness, instead of just whining into the void. We must be unafraid to play offense in order to win the culture war. Every issue. Every controversy. Every time.
