There's just something about picking up a pair of scissors and hacking away at your own hair only to instantly regret your choice.

A woman has gone viral after filming her own experience when entrusted with a pair of kitchen scissors. She used them to cut her mid-length hair into a blunt bob as she went through "all the stages of grief" throughout the process.

Emilia Burnie shared the video on TikTok (@emiliaburnie) on May 19. The video of her impulsive cut soon went viral, gaining over 610,000 views and 76,000 likes since being posted on Sunday.

Beginning with her hair divided into four ponytail sections, with her dog by her side as emotional support, she considered "if my outfits will go with this haircut" before taking the plunge and began to cut under the hair elastics to reveal a long bob.

The front to sections seemed promising, but a closer look revealed the cut was "already uneven" as Burnie was off to a bad start.

Having already taken off half her hair length in the front, she had to follow through and began to cut the back sections to match, leaving her with a messy bob just above her shoulders, which would have looked incredible once tidied up.

Burnie herself admitted, "I should have stopped here," but she continued cutting as she added a few more inches to her hair's length.

It was not a simple change. Burnie tried multiple different styles as she continued to chop away at the length, picking up the scissors once again to make a straight cut across the front sections of her hair—with even her dog looking in disbelief.

After tiding the back of her hair to ensure the cut was straight, she reached for a pair of thinning scissors as she asked, "Layers should save this, right?!" before showing viewers the final result: a chin-length choppy bob.

The video ended with Burnie looking upset as she gave the camera a thumbs up, but it seems she soon recovered, going on to post a follow up video in which she assured her viewers "I love it now."

What Do the Comments Say?

Despite her uncertainty, the comments section was quick to reassure Burnie that the cut was the right choice, as one user wrote: "No I'm telling you so genuinely that length is PERFECT. I'm so excited you went even shorter than the first chop, so flattering."

"Girl please if you're planning on cutting your hair in the future buy actual hair scissors," advised a commenter. "It'll be less uneven/choppy and easier to cut."

"No it's so cute it's so summer," another TikTok user wrote.
