A viral TikTok video has taken the internet by surprise after a woman shared the hilarious twist behind what she thought was her best friend's engagement.
The video starts with her counting down the days leading up to her best friend's "big moment." The days tick but at the end it is revealed that the proposal was for her, instead. Since the video was posted, it has received over 800,000 likes.
"Ten days until my best friend gets engaged," the creator says at the start, counting down each day with increasing excitement. Her anticipation grew, but the final reveal left her completely stunned.

In the comments, the creator revealed the behind-the-scenes planning that made the whole situation successful.
"The two boys had me in a group chat planning my best friend's 'engagement' on the beach, but in reality they were all three planning it for me. I was expecting to go to the beach to set up her engagement," she said.
Many viewers were just as shocked as the creator when they learned the truth.
"Did your friend know it was actually you getting engaged? And had to act oblivious? What a genius plan," one commenter said.
Another commenter joked: "Technically you were never wrong though, your best friend DID get engaged...to YOU!!!"

Some viewers were simply impressed by the creativity behind the surprise.
"This is literally such a good idea though," they wrote. "Because you can take her to do all of the things like getting nails done and have no idea that you're actually doing them for you!"
A different viewer shared a similar experience: "This happened to me. I thought my friend was getting proposed to but it was me," they wrote. "I was like 'He's throwing her a party...he just wants to trick her so he can propose.' It was my party."
In a follow-up video, the creator shared more footage of the day, adding context to the plan and making the whole situation even more hilarious with her total obliviousness. As she went through the day of her proposal, she included clips of her involved in what she thought were missions to make her bestie's big day perfect.
"On our way to pick up pizza, which was their distraction to set up the proposal for me," she said in a caption for the follow-up video. "I thought they were just setting up a blanket and eating pizza before my best friend got engaged."
The videos have left viewers in awe of the clever setup, and, of course, the emotional rollercoaster that unfolded on the beach.
