Woman and Four Children Found Shot to Death Inside California Home

Five people have been killed and found with gunshot wounds, including a baby, in Lancaster, Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has launched an investigation into the killing of four children and a woman Sunday.

The shooting was reported around 10:30 p.m. on the 3500 block of Garnet Lane.

Speaking at the scene, ABC7's Rachel Brown said the police are currently questioning a man who they believe is the father of some of the victims.

Police also received a phone call saying someone had stopped breathing and responded to the call by arriving at Garnet Lane.

The victims were each found with a bullet wound to their upper torso by the police.

All of the children were under the age of 12. Detectives were still on the scene early Monday.

The man being questioned by police reportedly turned himself in at the Lancaster Sheriff's station. It remains unclear whether this man is a suspect.

Newsweek has reached out the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department for comment.

A similar story a week ago saw a Texas mother being shot and killed at her home while her five children were asleep.

The incident occurred on November 22 in Spring. The Harris County Sheriff's Office noted that they believe the woman's boyfriend killed her.

Natalie Hee of Fox26 News spoke to residents to get a better understanding of victim Shaterica Anderson and her family.

The accused boyfriend's sister, Sandra Landry, spoke to Fox26 News and admitted that the couple had relationship issues in the past but believes her brother did not kill her.

She added that he loved his wife and children and they had been together for eight years. She said: "He did not kill his wife. When he lost his mom the next thing to him was her.

"It was like his world just opened up. When you say 'love somebody and a husband that loves his wife and his kids and would go above and beyond for them,' he made sure."

She also delivered a message to her brother and offered her support.

Since the initial reporting, Johnny Landry has been charged with Anderson's murder.

In L.A. earlier this month, another shooting saw a restaurant owner killed in front of his family. On the corner of East 92nd Street in South-Central Avenue on November 13, James Vargas was shot by two individuals.

He was with his wife and two children getting food when two men got out of a vehicle and shot him.

When LAPD officers arrived at the scene they attempted to revive Vargas but were unsuccessful. Two men have since been arrested.
