Woman Goes on Viral Tirade After Refusing to Wear a Mask at Dentist's Office: 'I Can Do What I Want'

In a new viral video, a woman can be seen and heard refusing to wear and threatening to sue during a visit to the dentist office.

"You're gonna work on my teeth, not my nose, I don't wear a mask getting my teeth cleaned," the woman can be heard at the start of the viral video, which was posted to TikTok by user Dani Smiles. The video was also posted to Twitter by a number of different users and garnered traction and attention quickly.

Shortly after the woman's initial comments about not wearing a mask, one of the employees said, "but it's about the safety of all of our staff," but she was interrupted by the woman who covered her mouth with her hand and said, "Fine I'll cover my mouth. Can I go be seated now?"

The employee then responded and told the woman that she was not allowed to sit in the office's waiting room because she was not filling out forms or letting the them take her temperature.

"It's about protecting our staff," the employee added.

The woman told the employee that they were not allowed to take her temperature, because "that's against the law," and added that the employee wasn't an "M.D."

"I have a right to sue you for harassing me, the manager and this entire company," the woman said. "I do have that right and I talked to my attorney before I came here too. So, does he want that to happen? I've waiting long enough for my teeth to be cleaned. OK? Let's get this done."

Despite threatening to sue the dentist office, the employee tells the woman that the "owner of the practice" was telling her that she could not see the woman, due to the fact that she wasn't wearing a mask.

"I want to hear him. Get him on the phone. He has to send me it in written writing, too, I want to see your policy," the woman said.

Another employee chimed in on the altercation shortly after and told the woman that she shouldn't be in the building as a whole without a mask.

"I can do what I want. It's not a law," the woman stated.

The other employee then tells the woman that she can't do what she wants and says, "this is a medical office," to which the woman responded by saying "it's not a law," and "no, this is a dental office."

The video comes at a time where a number of states across the U.S. have imposed mandates requiring residents to wear protective face masks when in public, in an effort to curb the spread of the new coronavirus. States such as New York, California, Delaware and New Jersey have announced statewide mask requirements.

Newsweek reached out to the TikTok user that posted the video for comment but did not receive a response in time for publication.
