Woman Not Wearing Shoes Sparks Fight Between Two Passengers On Ryanair Flight

Passengers on a weekend flight to Spain were in for a surprise as two men erupted into a brawl after the plane landed.

The fight took place Saturday on a Ryanair flight from Glasgow, Scotland to Tenerife, Spain and was captured by a third passenger who later spoke to the British Press Association about what he and others on board witnessed.

According to Ben Wardrop, who filmed the altercation and later posted it to Twitter, the fight was sparked over words exchanged between the two men earlier in the flight about a woman not wearing shoes on the plane.

"It all started over a woman not wearing her shoes on the flight going to the toilet, and a very drunk man pulled her up about it, saying that someone would stand on her toes, then the woman's boyfriend stepped in and tried to defuse the situation," Wardrop said. "Once the plane landed and more alcohol was consumed the man and the woman's boyfriend started arguing, both being very drunk they started to fight, and the man in the video with lots of blood was trying to get the man to calm down and he got hit on the nose."

Wardrop's video shows the two men engaged in a fight while standing in the plane aisle, with a female flight attendant caught between them. The two men exchange blows while other aircraft crew comes in to pull them apart, along with another passenger who emerges from the brawl with blood covering his face.

Other passengers can be heard yelling for the two men to stop fighting.

According to a report from Metro UK, another passenger stated that the injured man "had his nose bitten off" but Ryanair did not confirm the nature of the passenger's injury.

"We will not tolerate unruly or disruptive behaviour at any time and the safety and comfort of our customers, crew and aircraft is our number one priority," the airline said in a statement, adding that the flight crew called for police assistance following the flight.

"The aircraft landed normally and police removed and detained two individuals. This is now a matter for local police," the statement read.

None of the individuals involved in the fight have been identified and it is unclear if any charges are pending in the incident.
