People often think that romance is dead nowadays, but one couple has left the internet swooning by showing that modern love can still be full of romantic surprises.

TikTok user Elle posted an adorable clip of the moment she and her young son, Tommy, waited up to surprise her boyfriend after several days apart. The clip explains that he'd been working away "all week" and Tommy was desperate to "stay up to welcome him home" that night.

After Elle set up the camera to record the moment they were finally reunited, she expected to catch him by surprise. However, what she probably wasn't counting on, was to be on the receiving end of a romantic gesture herself when he pulled out an Uno reverse card of his own.

When it comes to relationships, there are so many different ways of making someone feel loved. The popular theory by Gary Chapman suggests that people usually express desire in one of five ways, which he dubbed as the five love languages. They include quality time, physical touch, words of affirmation, acts of service, and gift giving.

A survey by YouGov revealed that the most popular love language was quality time, with 38 percent. After that, 24 percent of Americans favored physical touch, 19 percent prefer words of affirmation, and 13 percent want acts of service. The least favorable love language was gift giving, with just 7 percent.

The results of the survey also highlighted that 73 percent of men think their partner does an excellent or good job at showing their love in a way that works well for them. This compares to 64 percent of women who would say the same.
