What To Know

The Wichita Police Department said it believes at this stage of the investigation that the incident is a case of domestic violence between the woman and her boyfriend. The woman does not have any significant injuries, police said.

Police said the woman was seen being taken by force in the 1400 block of North Volutsia.

A homeowner reported she had Ring doorbell camera footage "showing a female being grabbed by a male, and then forced away from the area," Wichita Police Captain Todd Ojile said during the news briefing.

The Domestic Intervention and Violence Reduction team located and arrested a 22-year-old man in relation to the case at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, police announced on X.

The man was booked into Sedgwick County Jail on charges of aggravated battery, strangulation, two counts of domestic simple battery and criminal restraint.

A $2,000 reward was being offered for tips leading to the identification of the person in the video.

Officials said they have no reason to believe there is ongoing danger to the general public.

I say right down the street, I’ve been staying here for approximately over a year now, and like I said, it’s alarming to see this transpire and take place definitely in our community.
