A dog owner couldn't understand why her pup was frenetically digging a hole by the neighbor's fence in the middle of the day. Then she realized why and shared it on social media, and now internet users can't cope with it.

In a viral TikTok video shared on Saturday under the username @mykclrssvnsn13, the small-sized poodle-mix dog can be seen digging a hole under the fence, before backing away to allow her neighbor's pup into her yard to play together.

"My dog and my neighbor's dog dug a hole under the hole and now they set their own play time," reads layover text in the clip. And a caption adds: "They're in a relationship I just know it." Newsweek reached out to @mykclrssvnsn13 for comment via TikTok comments. We could not verify the details of the case.

The poster said that the two pups are in a relationship, but can that actually be true? Can dogs fall in love with other dogs?

A Vet Explains Pets article by Dr. Jess Kirk says that dogs are not only capable of forming deep emotional bonds with other canines based on mutual trust, understanding, and companionship, but can sometimes form exclusive bonds, too.

How do you know if your dog is in love with another pup? Their body language when they are together is key. If your canine wags their tail when the other pup is around, plays with them, cuddles up to them, and hangs out with them, there is a high chance they are in love.

Our pups are more likely to bond with dogs that are more similar to them than others, who share the same type of personality, play styles, and energy levels. Being a similar age and breed also helps them bond faster.

Dogs are able to form friendships with many other animals besides us and canines; this includes cats and even horses among other species.
