Woman Stabs Ex-Boyfriend Numerous Times After Finding Her Dog Dead: Police

A woman has been accused of stabbing her former boyfriend several times after she found her dog dead in a Texas trailer.

Police told NBC affiliate News4SA the stabbing happened at the Caltex Mobile Home Park in San Antonio's southwest at about 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers said the woman carried out the attack after she found her dead dog close to her trailer, the network reported.

After the woman made the discovery, she went to her ex-boyfriend's trailer, barged in and stabbed him multiple times. Officers said the victim sustained deep wounds to his stomach as well as defensive injuries to his wrists and hands.

According to News4SA, police said the woman did not come out of her trailer when officers first arrived on the scene.

After police spoke to the suspect using a loudspeaker for about 20 minutes, she left the trailer and surrendered to officers. The woman, who was not named in the News4SA report, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Newsweek has contacted the San Antonio Police Department for comment.

According to Sparks Law Firm, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Texas is a second-degree felony. Punishments for the offense can range to up to 20 years in jail and a fine that reaches upwards of $10,000.

In 2020, there were 13,378 adult weapons arrests and 437 juveniles were apprehended, according to a 2020 Texas crime report. The arrest rate was 47.1 arrests of every 100,000 people in the state of Texas, which represented an increase of 11.9 percent on 2019.

Newsweek has recently reported on instances where women have been accused of stabbing their partners. In February, a woman in Florida fatally allegedly stabbed her husband 140 times with knives and a meat cleaver.

Melvin Weller, 62, was stabbed to death at his home in Palm Springs, according to NBC affiliate WPTV.

When officers entered the home, they found Weller's wife Joan Burke, 61, lying on a bed in the main bedroom, awake but unresponsive.

Burke was taken to JFK Hospital, in the nearby city of Atlantis, where an evaluation was ordered. She had sustained cuts to the palms of both her hands, which investigators said is common for offenders to sustain while carrying out a stabbing, due to losing their grip on the handle.

Earlier this week, a woman was accused of stabbing her boyfriend with a sword during an argument, according to Washington state police.

Clark County Sheriff's Office deputies were alerted to reports of an assault with a weapon at the Quality Inn Motel, at 7001 Northeast Highway in 99 in Vancouver, just before 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Fox 12.
