WWE Royal Rumble 2019 Card: Every Match and Confirmed Participant

The first WWE pay-per-view of 2019 is here, and it's the always-entertaining Royal Rumble event.

This year will mark the second year of the Women's Royal Rumble, and the PPV also features major championship matches that will shape the road to WrestleMania 35 in New York. The only titles not being defended at this year's Royal Rumble are the RAW Tag Team and Intercontinental Championships.

Nine confirmed matches, two on the kickoff show, will give WWE fans a night full of action this Sunday. Here's every confirmed match on the Royal Rumble card.

RUSEV (c) VS SHINSUKE NAKAMURA - U.S. CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

The U.S. Championship has seen better days. Rusev, one of the most over superstars in 2018, finally won the title on the Christmas Day episode of SmackDown Live. However, since his win he has barely been on television.

There were some segments involving his opponent, the former U.S. champion Shinsuke Nakamura, but the last two weeks neither wrestler has appeared on Tuesday Night TV. Perhaps once this match is done, the title can be elevated again.

BUDDY MURPHY (c) VS AKIRA TOZAWA VS KALISTO VS HIDEO ITAMI - CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

The Cruiserweight matches on the past few pay-per-views have been stellar, and current champ Buddy Murphy has been at the center of it all.

Since winning the title in his home country during the Super Show-Down event in Australia, Murphy has dominated the 205 Live roster. Asking for more competition than he's been given, Murphy was put into a fatal fourway match at the Rumble against some of the division's top talents. Expect another great match from the Cruiserweights.

THE BAR (c) VS SHANE MCMAHON/THE MIZ - SMACKDOWN TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

One of the stranger matchups this Sunday is the Tag Team Title match between current champs The Bar and the team of Shane McMahon and The Miz.

After Shane won the World Cup tournament at Crown Jewel to become "the best in the world," The Miz has hitched his wagon to the SmackDown commissioner. After weeks of convincing, Shane finally agreed to team with The Miz.

However, two weeks in a row The Bar have decimated the makeshift duo. Can Shane and Miz get on the same page to take down Sheamus and Cesaro?

ASUKA (c) VS BECKY LYNCH - SMACKDOWN WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Asuka captured her first WWE title at the TLC pay-per-view by defeating Charlotte and Becky Lynch (with the help of Ronda Rousey). Lynch is looking to regain her title as she makes her way to WrestleMania, but is The Man ready for Asuka?

RONDA ROUSEY (c) VS SASHA BANKS - RAW WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

On the other brand, Ronda Rousey defends her RAW Women's Championship against Sasha Banks for the first time. Banks is a former champion, so she can give Ronda a run for her money. Will she deliver Rousey's first loss?

BROCK LESNAR (c) VS FINN BALOR - UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

After Strowman was taken out of his match with Brock Lesnar, Finn Balor defeated John Cena, Drew McIntyre and Baron Corbin to earn this fight at the Royal Rumble.

The story here is that no one believes Balor can actually defeat Lesnar because of Brock's size, but Finn has proved himself again and again. The first Universal Champion has a good shot, and WWE fans should expect an entertaining Lesnar match like the AJ and D. Bry ones before.

DANIEL BRYAN (c) VS AJ STYLES - WWE CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

Speaking of Daniel Bryan, the "new" Bryan goes into the Rumble to face off again with AJ Styles for the WWE Championship. Styles has a new edge to his character and wants to get back his belt at any cost.

Bryan's new persona also has a "win at any cost" mentality, so something (and someone) is going to have to give.

The 30-man Rumble has plenty of ministories between competitors, but the prize is a title shot of their choosing at WrestleMania. Here are the confirmed competitors:
