Late rapper XXXTentacion's former girlfriend welcomed a son on Saturday. The baby was named Gekyume Onfroy. Gekyume is, according to his girlfriend and mom, a word created by the rapper before his death. It means a "next universe of thought" or a "different state of mind," TMZ reported.

The name has been long-chosen, as the rapper's mother, Cleopatra Bernard, shared the name back in November, according to Hype Fresh.

According to Bernard, XXXTentacion, real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, learned about his newly-conceived son before he was killed in June. "When Jah found out initially about the baby, he had two names already picked out," she shared on her Instagram story in November. "He wanted a boy, he ended up having a boy, and that's the name that he chose for his son. And so I decided to honor my son and give his only child the name that he chose."

Before his death, the rapper created the word and shared a video of the explanation. "I want to make up a new word, and the new word is Gekyume," XXXTentacion said in a video shared by Instagram account @ourgenerationmusictv. "I am in the next gekyume of thinking."

According to Gekyume's mother, Jenesis Sanchez, the baby will be called "Yume." The family released a statement about the name, according to Complex. "Gekyume's name is derived from a word X created prior to his passing, which means 'a different state' or 'next' universe of thought," they shared. "XXXTentacion specifically chose this name for his first-born son; his family is honored to fulfill his wish and shower baby Gekyume with love."

XXXTentacion was murdered in June 2018 while leaving a Florida motorsports dealership, according to CNN. It was initially believed the killing may have been a robbery.

The rapper was highly controversial for a series of criminal charges including battery, assault, witness tampering and false imprisonment. Sanchez was allegedly the victim of the rapper's abuse, and she shared lengthy explanations of physical and verbal violence against her by the 20-year-old celebrity.

In October, after his death, a secret recording of the rapper, published by Pitchfork, revealed Sanchez was telling the truth. XXXTentacion admitted to the violence. " I started f****** her up because she made one mistake," he said. "And from there, the whole cycle went down. Now she's scared. That girl is scared for her life."
