XXXTentacion Dead: Rapper Killed in Drive-by Shooting in South Florida

UPDATE 6:33 p.m. EDT—The Broward County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Twitter that the victim in Monday's shooting in South Florida was rapper XXXTentacion.

"Rest in peace," Kanye West wrote on Twitter. "I never told you how much you inspired me when you were here thank you for existing."

The adult male victim has been confirmed as 20 year old Jahseh Onfroy aka rapper #XXXTentacion.

Rapper XXXTentacion was shot and killed in South Florida, Monday, TMZ reported, citing the Broward County Sheriff's Office. He was 20 years old.

The rapper, real name Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, was reportedly leaving a motorcycle dealership after going shopping when the unidentified suspect ran up to his vehicle and shot him. The suspect in the shooting was apparently still at large.

XXXTentacion's representatives had not yet publicly commented on reports of his death.

"I PRAY IT ISNT TRUE AND IF IT IS GOD BLESS THE ONES THATS CLOSE TO HIM," 2chainz wrote on Twitter.

"Enormous talent and limitless potential and a strong desire to be a better person. God bless his family, friends and fans," J. Cole wrote.

Newsweek reached out to the Broward County Sheriff's Office for comment but had not yet heard back. The sheriff's office confirmed on Twitter that a male involved in a shooting was pronounced dead, but did not confirm whether it was XXXTentacion or not.

The controversial rapper previously made headlines for his legal battles, including allegations of domestic violence. XXXTentacion was also involved in a number of feuds with other rappers, including a high profile battle with Migos.

The rapper's most recent album "?" was released in March.
