The New York Yankees have a decision to make on one of the team's promising young players during spring training.
After a slow start to the offseason, New York managed to retain Cody Bellinger and is basically running it back this year with a squad that looks extremely similar to last year's team. Jasson Domínguez was ready to claim left field as an everyday player, but after bringing back Bellinger, his role on the team is up in the air.
With New York likely to roll out an outfield consisting of Bellinger, Aaron Judge and Trent Grisham, Domínguez is facing an uphill battle to even be on the Yankees roster come opening day.

"If everything stays the same, we'll be forced to determine what's our best course of action to help this team be impactful," Brian Cashman said at camp, according to Greg Joyce of the New York Post. "I would concede it's in his best interest to be getting everyday reps."
As Cashman said, Domínguez should be getting everyday reps. The 23-year-old slashed .257/.331/.388 with 10 home runs and 47 RBIs in 123 games last season, but can make an impact for the Yankees in multiple ways.
“Domínguez is an extremely talented player,” Cashman said, per Joyce. “He’s one of our best runners. So having him as a choice for our manager to use coming off the bench at times as a pinch-runner to steal a bag or first to third, second to home, what have you, definitely improves our chances of success because of his pure athleticism. We’ll just have to wait and see how the spring shakes out, who’s standing and then we’ll make the appropriate decisions when we have our meetings closer to the end of camp."
Though Domínguez is a talented player, he has no clear path to playing time with the Yankees, so having the young outfielder get more reps playing in the minor leagues may be better for his development.
