Yearbook Viral Video Seems to Finally Confirm Age of 'Euphoria''s Alexa Demie

A former classmate of Euphoria star Alexa Demie appears to have solved a longtime internet mystery surrounding the actress and her age.

Demie is known for playing high schooler Maddy Perez in HBO's hit Euphoria, but it's her real-life high school experience that has fans hooked at the moment.

The actress's age has long been a conversation topic online since her rise to fame in 2019, after various reports at the time claimed her to be 24 and others 28.

A 2019 Vulture profile on the LA-raised actress described her as a 24-year-old "best known as the smizing scene-stealer on Euphoria," despite the author later referring to her as "ageless" in a tweet of the article. The Wall Street Journal however reported her as 28 that very same year.

In the years since, and a whole season of Euphoria later, confusion online has prevailed as the mystery became the center of memes.

Now, an alleged classmate of Demie has shared their yearbook online, giving the most definite answer for the age question so far.

"Realizing I went to high school with Maddy," wrote Amber Lizette, to the sound of a Euphoria audio in a TikTok video. The clip showed Lizette opening up the 2007 yearbook, showing an image of a teenage Demie posed against a white background.

Despite a 2007 graduate likely to have been 18 at the time, Lizette claimed that: "She is actually younger than I am, I believe she's 31," after explaining that she herself is 32.

In another comment, Lizette appeared to confirm that Demie "went to John Marshall High School and graduated in 2008."

It isn't the first time fans of Demie, who has never publicly confirmed her age, have received inside information about it. A 2009 blog post tracked down by fans contained an interview with the actress about her sunglasses line at the time, MAINFRAME, and referred to her as an "18-year-old."

Demie's age is far from important in the grand scheme of things, but it somehow managed to become the focus of countless memes online after a viral tweet documented her "thousand lives."

The post featured various images of Demie in the 2000s, with Azealia Banks, Sky Ferreira, the Kardashians and Grimes, writing: "She has lived a thousand lives."

Since, multiple other viral tweets comically edited Demie into historical events, including the Last Supper and the Salem Witch Trials, poking fun at her seemingly "ageless" persona.

Although these memes take a humorous look at it, the obsession with Demie's age has also highlighted a far deeper issue for others: society and Hollywood's obsession with youth and the apparent disregard for anyone no longer in their teens or twenties.

It's an idea noted by the recent TikTok video too, as users rushed to counter ageism in the comments.

"31 is only old to the lil kids on this app," wrote one user.

Newsweek has contacted representatives of Alexa Demie for comment.
