'You Guys are Gonna Be Sorry': Woman Harasses Arby's Employee in Video Viewed 2.9M Times

A video of a maskless Arby's customer harassing an employee who refused to serve her has gone viral on TikTok, amassing nearly 3 million views, 300,000 likes, and over 21,000 comments in the two days since it was posted.

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has been ongoing for almost two years, masks remain contentious, especially in businesses and restaurants that require them for service. While guidelines vary by state, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) maintains that "masks are currently recommended for employees and for customers as much as possible when not eating or drinking."

Many businesses have employed mask requirements in accordance with these CDC guidelines—rules that customers are expected to follow. As ABC News contributor and former FBI agent Brad Garrett explained to the outlet earlier this year, it's perfectly legal for businesses to set a mask mandate for anyone on their premises.

Echoed Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo in a March 2021 tweet: "As a reminder to our fellow Texans, private businesses enjoy property rights and may require folks to wear a mask. Please respect their property rights. If you decline to wear a mask and are asked to leave and refuse, you may be committing the offense of criminal trespass."

The TikTok, posted by @charcoaldeath, begins with the off-camera employee (who appears to also be filming the video) telling the unmasked woman, who is standing at the register, to "please leave [their] store."

"If you don't want to wear a mask, can you please leave?" he says.

The woman begins to debate him, saying that it is "against the law" for the business to enforce the mandate. As she argues, the worker asks her to exit the restaurant repeatedly. The woman then tries to take a picture of his name tag, but because the image is "hard to read," she asks him to write out his name and position on a piece of paper.

"It's just a simple thing," says the exasperated employee. "It's been two years of wearing a mask."

The woman tells him to call the police, and he responds by asking why she wants to involve authorities. "Why are you afraid of calling the police? Because they're sworn to protect our Constitution," she retorts.

The conflict continues in a second clip, in which the employee persists in escorting the woman out. "You know what?" says the woman. "You guys are gonna be sorry when you lose all your freedoms."

"Learn the law!" she shouts.

The video ends with the conflict still unresolved. Viewers, however, haven't hesitated to speak up regarding the incident, with many expressing outrage at the woman's behavior.

"She's there to cause trouble," wrote @sinnistergrin in a comment that's been liked over 48,000 times. "End of story."

"For people that love freedom, they sure love to tell people how to run their own businesses," said @epidemiologistkat.

"The pandemic unearthed so many law scholars," joked @xxtyrantxx.

"She's never been discriminated against a day in her life and it's killing her," wrote @br13510.

But not all commenters agreed with the employee's perspective. "You spent more time arguing!!!" wrote @wownchrist. "Serve her!"

"I'm so tired of this mask thing," commented @eugenem31. "If you are vaccinated don't worry about me not wearing a mask!"
