Zeraora’s Ability and Signature Attack Revealed in New ‘Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon’ Trailer

While Zeraora may have been discovered through datamining when Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon were released, official information on the pure Electric-type has been scarce. However, the Japanese Pokémon Company released a short gameplay trailer showing Zeraora’s ability and signature attack and how they work together.

Check out the new Zeraora trailer for Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon below.

The first bit shown in the gameplay trailer is Zeraora’s signature move. Plasma Fists is an Electric-type physical attack that has 100 base power and is 100 percent accurate. What it does is change Normal-type moves into Electric-type for that turn, which works great with Zeraora’s ability.

Volt Absorb is Zeraora’s ability, which heals the new Pokémon’s health by a quarter of its maximum health when hit by an Electric-type attack. The gameplay trailer above shows Zeraora taking out Greninja with Plasma Fists and then Snorlax trying to use a Normal-type attack, but it has no effect because of Volt Absorb.

Of course, this combination works in double battles and needs Zeraora to outspeed its opponents. That shouldn’t be a problem as Zeraora’s base speed is 143. If you’re looking for more information on Zeraora, including its base stats and the moves it can learn, Serebii has the new Mythical Pokémon catalogued on its site.

Zeraora is not obtainable by normal means, but will be distributed in Japan alongside the release of the upcoming Pokémon movie, Everyone’s Story. While distribution information for the rest of the world is not available, expect the film to make its way stateside by the end of the year where Zeraora will be given out via GameStop or by other means.

The Electric-type Pokémon was officially revealed on April 8 in a new trailer for Everyone’s Story. In it, a brief glimpse of Zeraora was seen battling an unknown opponent but fans got to see the feline-looking Pokémon in action.

Pokémon the Movie: Everyone’s Story will release in Japan in July.
