Arsenal will make Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata its main target during the summer transfer window, according to reports from Spain.

Morata, 24, only rejoined Madrid in the summer of 2016 from Juventus. But Zinedine Zidane's team has gone on a record run of 40 games unbeaten in all competitions, beating the previous mark set by Barcelona with a 3-3 Copa del Rey draw with Sevilla on Thursday night.

That form, along with injuries, has decreased Madrid's need for Morata and Spanish newspaper Diario AS claims Arsenal could pounce with an "unrefusable" offer.

The suggestion is that Morata will no longer be willing to accept a substitute role for Madrid in a season that will end with the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Morata was the starting striker for Spain at Euro 2016 in France last summer.

Uncertainty over the future of Alexis Sanchez should increase Wenger's need and desire for an elite striker in the summer of 2017.
