Arsenal's excellent start to the season has been dealt a potential blow, after the club's top striker Alexis Sanchez suffered a suspected calf injury on international duty with Chile.

Sky Sports reported Sanchez, 27, left a Chile training session on Tuesday with the injury. The Chilean Football Association (FA) released a statement confirming that Sanchez had a "low-grade muscular injury." He will remain in the capital, Santiago, "under treatment and in evaluation."

Sanchez has been one of Arsenal's principal attacking threats, helping Arsene Wenger's club to reach fourth place in the English Premier League after 11 games, with six goals and three assists in his ten league appearances so far.

Chile is scheduled to play Uruguay at the National Stadium in Santiago in a FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifier on November 15.
