'Attack on Titan' Final Season Gets a Part 2 With Episode 76 Coming in Winter 2022

Attack on Titan fans thought Sunday would be the finale of the popular series, but there were apparently other plans in the works, as more episodes were confirmed to be coming in 2022.

Following Episode 15's release on March 28, NHK in Japan confirmed the news with a teaser trailer for what will be Episode 16 of the fourth, and final, season of Attack on Titan.

The teaser trailer also confirms that the next installment—which will be Episode 76 of the series overall—will premiere during the winter 2022 anime season, which begins around December.

The reveal that Attack on Titan Season 4 will continue comes as a relief for fans, considering the anime seemingly took its time with telling the final story of Eren and the rest of the Scouts as they take the war to the country of Paradis.

It seemed less and less likely that the story of Attack on Titan would wrap up in just a few episodes, but now that a second part of Season 4 has been confirmed, viewers will be able to get a fuller conclusion for the story, which began more than 10 years ago.

Speaking of the manga, it seems that Attack on Titan Season 4 Part 2 is being pushed to winter 2022 to allow for the source material to wrap up. Kodansha Comics, the publisher behind the popular manga, announced in January that the story in the pages of the manga will end in April 2021.

The final installment of the Attack on Titan manga will be sold in Japan on April 9. Currently, there are no details as to when it'll be sold around the world.

"I've been saying for the past eight years that it would be over in three years, and it looks like I'm finally going to be able to finish it," Attack on Titan creator Hajime Isayama said in a press release, translated from Japanese, at the time. "It's been a very long time coming, but I hope you can stay with me until the end."

With the manga ending, the studios behind the Attack on Titan anime can prepare to adapt it for television and bring Hajime's vision to the small screen.

It's also worth noting that this isn't the first time the Attack on Titan anime split a season into two parts.

The third season of the anime ran from July to October 2018, before going on hiatus for several months. The series returned in April 2019 as Season 3 Part 2.

If you still need your Attack on Titan anime fix, Funimation is still releasing English-dubbed episodes every week on its streaming service, as well as on the Toonami programming block on Cartoon Network.
