Will 'The Book of Boba Fett' Be Getting a Second Season?

The first season of The Book of Boba Fett has ended, but that doesn't mean the Star Wars bounty hunter is down and out.

The finale landed on Disney+ on February 9 and it suggests that Boba Fett (played by Temuera Morrison) is here to stay—or, at least, is sticking around on Tatooine.

Here is everything we know so far about whether the show will get a Season 2.

Will 'The Book of Boba Fett' Be Getting a Second Season?

The Book of Boba Fett ends with the eponymous bounty hunter defeating the Pyke syndicate and keeping his power as the Daimyo of Mos Eisley on Tatooine.

In the episode's final moments, Boba Fett and his lieutenant Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) walk through the streets of Mos Eisley and he comments that they "aren't suited" to staying put in one location or ruling a city.

Whether Boba Fett's comments means he could one day leave the town and return to bounty hunting is unclear, though it seems unlikely that he would go back to being someone's lackey when he has finally become his own boss.

Lucasfilm and Disney+ have not made an announcement on whether the show will return for a second season.

The story is left open enough for it to do so and there is a post-credits scene that suggests there's more to come. That plot thread could be picked up in The Mandalorian instead, however.

Boba Fett may only return to screens in Season 3 of The Mandalorian, joining forces with Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin for another mission.

The Book of Boba Fett has received a mixed response from critics, but the show's ratings have remained relatively strong.

Since its launch on Disney+ in late December, it has appeared in Nielsen's top 10 and the second episode reached No 5 on the chart, TVLine has reported.

The viewing figures for later episodes in the season have not yet been revealed, but given fans' delighted reaction to Pascal's return as the Mandalorian in Episode 5 and the reveal of Cad Bane in Episode 6, the show's ratings could well have increased.

Morrison has spoken about the possibility of future seasons, telling the Daily Express: "I think they'll have to consider some things... The tree is still growing. They'll probably want to test the waters first, there's been no talk about it."

All episodes of The Book of Boba Fett are available to stream on Disney+ now.
