Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston Ignite Fans on Social Media After Screen Actors Guild Awards Reunion: 'What A Sight to See'

Former couple Brad Pitt an Jennifer Aniston both picked up awards Sunday night at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, but it was their tender reunion backstage at the ceremony that has dominated social media Monday morning.

Pitt won best actor in a supporting role for Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, while Aniston won best actress in a drama series for Apple's The Morning Show.

However, it was a sweet display of affection between the exes—who wed in 2000 and divorced in 2005—that captured hearts on Twitter as Pitt, 56, and Aniston, 50, were photographed backstage in a tender moment. Pitt was also shown watching Aniston's acceptance speech backstage.

Pictures of Pitt and Aniston got everyone talking, 20 years after they married and 15 years after they went their separate ways. In the years since, Pitt got together with Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star Angelina Jolie, with whom he has six children, and Aniston married actor Justin Theroux. Both of those relationships ended within a year of each other: Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016, with the separation finalized in 2019, and Aniston and Theroux split in 2017.

Aniston and Pitt's relationship dominated tabloid headlines in the early 2000s, at the height of Aniston's fame as a cast member on Friends, and the couple were regularly idealized by the media and fans alike as the preeminent Hollywood couple—both with flourishing careers, cover star good looks and amiable public perceptions.

The nostalgia of the couple's reunion was in full flow on Twitter on Sunday night into early Monday morning. One fan tweeted: "Love to see how Brad and Jen still support each other. What. A. Sight. To. See."

Another Twitter user wrote: "GUYS Brad and Jen was YEARS ago ok ENOUGH already now would everybody PLEASE just STOP and tell me WHERE I should get this TATTOOED."

"BREAKING: Queen Elizabeth has asked Brad and Jen to serve as senior members of the Royal Family," joked another person, playing on the former couple's one-time status as Hollywood royalty and the recent gulf left in the British royal family by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to step down as working members of the royal family.

"You don't even have to stan Brad and Jen to be happy for two people who've been through a ton of s**t but have somehow come through to the other side," reasoned another Twitter user.

"THIS BRAD AND JEN REUNION IS TOO MUCH TO HANDLE FOR A MONDAY," surmized one person as "Brad and Jen" began trending on Twitter.

And perhaps most succinct was a Twitter user who hailed the moment as "the most purest and most genuine interaction between celebrities I've ever seen."
