MLB Pipeline reported on Thursday that the Braves had signed international free agent Jose Mañon to a $1.5 million deal. Mañon is MLB Pipeline's No. 15-ranked prospect in this winter's international free agency class.
Mañon, 17, has true five-tool potential.
He's an elite bat with incredible in-game power. The righty also has impressive bat-to-ball skills and enough speed to be a threat on the basepaths. His defense is his worst trait, but it's still solid. He might need to move to second base or one of the corner infield spots down the road.
