Every Recent Reported Sighting of Brian Laundrie

The search for Brian Laundrie, the man named as a person of interest in the disappearance of his fiancée Gabby Petito, has involved police departments and sheriff's offices from across the country following multiple reported sightings of the 23-year-old.

Police in North Port, Florida, have been searching for Laundrie in the vast Carlton Reserve for more than a week to no avail, after his parents claimed that he went for a walk there on the morning of September 14 and never returned.

The remains of Petito were found in Wyoming on September 19, eight days after she was reported missing by her family. Laundrie had returned home from the pair's cross-country road trip alone on September 1 and refused to cooperate with investigators about where Petito was before he also went missing.

While the search for Laundrie continues, there have been several reported sightings of him in a number of states and even other countries.

However, none of the claims have been verified by police, with some outright dismissed as not accurate.

Appalachian Trail

John Walsh, host of In Pursuit With John Walsh on the Investigation Discovery network, told NewsNationNow that they have received "at least three times more phone calls than we've had on any fugitive," and have said that sightings in three locations have come up more than others: Mexico, the Bahamas and the Appalachian Trail.

Tweets from the daughter of reality TV star Duane Chapman, otherwise known as "Dog the Bounty Hunter," who has joined in with the search for Laundrie, also said investigators are looking into the possibility that he is on the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina.

"Looking for experienced HIKING/SURVIVALIST near the Appalachian Hiking trail in North Carolina. I know these types rarely have social media. So do you have a family member or friend who fits in this description?" Lyssa Chapman tweeted on September 26.

There have also been several reported sightings of Laundrie in Watauga County in North Carolina. However, a spokesperson for the sheriff's office told FOX 46: "We were looking into these claims, but nothing has been verified."

Fort De Soto Park, Florida

Duane Chapman told Fox News on Monday that he believes Laundrie may have been hiding in Fort De Soto Park in Pinellas County, Florida, with assistance from his parents, claiming that surveillance footage shows that "three people came in on the 6th [of September] and two people left on the 8th."

The attorney for Laundrie's family issued a statement confirming that all three did go camping together at Fort De Soto Park from September 6 to September 8, just days before Petito's family reported her missing, and left together.

Elsewhere, there have been multiple claims and posts on social media that Laundrie may have been spotted in Alabama, despite the 23-year-old having no connection to the state.

One social media post claims Laundrie stopped inside a sub shop at Rangeline Plaza on Halls Mill Road, but the manager told WALA that he worked on the day that he was reportedly spotted and didn't see anything and police have not contacted him.

Mobile County Sheriff's Office Capt. Paul Burch said deputies have checked out multiple reported sightings of Laundrie in areas such as Grand Bay, Semmes and Wilmer which have failed to produce anything substantial.

"They've varied from the suspect hitchhiking or walking down the street in Wilmer and turns his head every time a car passes," he told Fox 10 "We've dispatched a vehicle for each and every call and verified that the person was not Laundrie."

There was also speculation that a body which was found near a dumpster in Tillman's Corner could have been Laundrie, but police later confirmed it was a homeless person and not connected to the Petito case.

Okaloosa County, Florida

Another image posted on Facebook by Florida man Sam Bass suggested he may have captured Laundrie on one of his trail cams walking through a wooded area wearing a backpack in Okaloosa County.

However, the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office confirmed on September 21 that the man in the image was not Laundrie.

"The OCSO did its due diligence in response to this report and is wrapping up an extensive search that took place in this area to also include nearby farmlands and a search by drone," a sheriff's office spokesman told NewsNationNow.

"No one—and nothing—of note was located. There are no known possible past or current connections between Laundrie and anyone in this area at this time to follow up on."

One woman posted a video on TikTik suggesting she saw a man who looked like Laundrie at a hotel in Toronto, Canada, on September 20.

TikTok user @cwlynn, who claims to be a flight attendant, said she saw the man who looked like the 23-year-old get into a car with another person and drive away outside the unnamed hotel. The TikTok account has since been deleted.

North Port, Florida

Another potential sighting of Laundrie was reported close to his parent's home in North Port, Florida on September 17.

Zachary Randazzo took a cellphone image of a man who looked like Laundrie walking down the street listening to music. However, North Port Police Department spokesman Josh Taylor told the New York Post the man in the photo has a tattoo on his left arm, which Laundrie does not have.

"Not looking like him. Tattoo on left arm...but we are going to make sure," said Taylor. "Other than that, sure as heck looks like him."

Randazzo added to the New York Post that he's not "100 percent sure" the photo was of Laundrie but "it looks so close I don't know how it couldn't be him."

The New York Post also reported that a man claimed to have seen Laundrie by himself at a bar in Montana in late August, one day before Petito was last reported seen alive.

Hunter Mannies, 44, said he saw the man who looked like Laundrie wearing at Bullwinkle's Saloon in West Yellowstone on August 26.

"He was just mad at the world it seemed like," Mannies told the New York Post.

"I didn't pay attention to him other than that he and this other couple were the only ones in there."

Mannies claimed that the man also said his name was Brian and got into an argument with the other couple at the bar about politics. Mannies said that he contacted the FBI about the sighting.
