Mysterious Blue Dots Spray-Painted in Front of Homes of Biden Supporters in California
Residents of a California city said they felt threatened after mysterious blue dots appeared outside homes which were displaying signs supporting Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
Police said they are investigating after a number of dots were spray-painted on the roads in front the Roseville houses of people backing the democratic presidential ticket just days before the election.
"It's pretty creepy," Adam Quilici, who lives in Roseville, told KCRA. "I feel targeted and intimidated a little bit. It just seems like it's not OK."
Quilici described how one of his neighbors told him about the blue dots on Sunday morning.
"She said, 'Hey, you might want to look in front of your house,'" Quilici said.
"The houses that were targeted have Biden-Harris signs in front of them—every single one. There aren't any blue dots anywhere where there are not those signs present."
Quilici said that he called police about the blue dots, who had received several calls about them from other concerned residents.
"They followed up with a phone call saying, 'Yes, we believe everything you're saying is true,'" he said. "They wanted to make sure it wasn't a water line or a utilities thing. They said, 'No, this is definitely not.'"
It is believed the dots were painted sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
None of the signs supporting Biden and Harris were removed from outside the homes.
"This is not just a smashed pumpkin on Halloween," Quilici said. "This is like a message and I'm not really OK with it."
Another neighbor, who did not wish to be named, told CBS 13: "At first I was scared and extremely upset, and then I just got angry, and now I'm just angry and it just makes me more determined to keep my signs up."
The dots have since been removed. The Roseville Police Department has been contacted for further comment.
The state of California is seen as one of the states which Biden is expected to comfortably win at the election.
According to the most recent Survey Monkey poll based on a rolling 28 day average, Biden currently leads President Donald Trump 62 percent to 36 percent.
Researcher David Binder notes that Biden could beat Trump in the popular vote by as much as five million votes.
In 2016, Hillary Clinton won the state by 30 points over Trump. California has not voted for a Republican president since George Bush Sr. in 1988.
