'Call of Duty: Warzone' January 13 Update Nerfs DMR, Type 63 Again - Patch Notes

Call of Duty: Warzone has a new serverside update in the works that further nerfs the DMR-14, Type 63 and Burst Pistol. In addition to taking these crutch weapons down a notch, the small patch also addresses the third iteration of the infinite stim glitch that made its presence known on Monday. These patch notes were bizarrely tweeted and deleted by Warzone's developers at Raven Software, but were quickly copied by the Call of Duty experts at Charlie INTEL. Raven has since posted them again. Here are the full patch notes as we know them.

The simplest way to read these patch notes is, given that previous nerfs to the DMR and Type 63 weren't enough to stop these guns from dominating the meta, the new January 13 update works to take these weapons down even further. Despite receiving tweaks for decreased headshot damage and increased recoil last week, today's update increases recoil even more while making substantial changes to bullet penetration and damage falloff, too.

And, given that body shots from the DMR were still absurdly powerful after the previous update, those damage values have been cut down a notch as well. Simply put, the DMR should feel like a substantially different gun once this update is live and installed. The Type 63 was privy to similar tweaks to its bullet penetration and damage falloff, but recoil and multiplier percentages weren't touched in this case.

Beyond nerfing the DMR and Type 63 in major ways, the fix for the infinite stim glitch is also worth noting. Monday afternoon, cheaters discovered it was once again possible to have infinite stim accessibility after throwing a grenade at a wall and catching it. Once news of the glitch had spread, nefarious soldiers everywhere began making use of it to survive Warzone's deadly gas cloud. After it becomes mainstream, then it's a matter of taking advantage of the flaw just to stay competitive. While its patch notes are fairly short, the January 13 update for Call of Duty: Warzone makes strides in improving the meta with regard to cheating and balance alike.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
