Cardi B ‘Caught’ Jamming to Fergie’s National Anthem Rendition, Viral Memes Claim

While most people didn’t appreciate Fergie’s version of the national anthem at NBA All-Star Game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday night, viral memes seemingly showed “Bodak Yellow” rapper Cardi B bopping to the “Big Girls Don’t Cry” singer's performance, munching on popcorn and throwing her head back.

But the memes got it wrong. While Cardi, 25, hasn’t spoken for—or against—Fergie’s version of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” she was actually jamming out to her own song, “Bartier Cardi.”

The best of the entertainment world got to see Team LeBron James beat Team Stephen Curry with score of 148–145.

Stars like Jamie Foxx, Dave Chappelle , Jimmy Kimmel, Spike Lee,  DJ Khaled, Chance the Rapper, Chris Tucker, Chris Rock, Adam Devine, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, Jack Nicholson and Queen Latifah were in attendance at the all-star game. Beyoncé was also there with daughter Blue Ivy, who posed for selfies with her mother.

Beforehand, Fergie, 42, performed a sultry but off-tone version of the national anthem.

Comedian Roseanne Barr, who famously screamed the anthem at a San Diego Padres game in 1990, blasted the star. “Who saw Fergie's national anthem performance at the NBA All Star Game? I think mine was better lowkey,” she tweeted on Monday.

The former Black Eyed Peas singer ultimately apologized for this version of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

On Monday, Fergie told TMZ she likes to take risks, but it doesn’t always pay off. “I've always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA,” she said. “I'm a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn't strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”

Josh Duhamel, Fergie’s ex-husband, showed his support for the mother of his son, 4-year-old Axl, by bringing the singer roses.

In September 2017, the couple announced they were splitting. "With absolute love and respect we decided to separate as a couple earlier this year," they said in a statement about their divorce at the time. “To give our family the best opportunity to adjust, we wanted to keep this a private matter before sharing it with the public.”
