'Meowing Hour': Cat Who Plays in Baby Bouncer at 3 A.M. Delights the Internet

A viral video of a kitten playing with a baby bouncer has delighted the internet.

Posted on Reddit on Thursday, user SpookyPie20 from Maryland posted the adorable video with the caption: "My kitten uses the bouncer more than my kid. His name is Meep and does this on his own...even at 3 a.m."

With over 35,000 upvotes and hundreds of comments, cat lovers have responded with lots of love for Meep the cat.

"Meep is living his best life," wrote one user, while another said: "Well he is a baby too!"

When it comes to entertaining your feline friends, VCA Animal Hospitals says: "The toys that you choose for your cat must take into account the natural behavior of the species. Often, simple ones are best and ones that offer unpredictable movement, rapid movement, and high-pitched sound are likely to provide your cat with hours of entertainment.

That explains why Meep is such a fan of the hanging bird on his human's baby bouncer.

Many Reddit users fell in love with Meep the cat. One user wrote: "Can I take a second to say how adorable Meep is?! His toe beans peeking there is super cute."

Another said: "Meep fan club president checking in."

Other cat owners were inspired by the unusual toy, with one user writing: "I have a 2 year old cat and this is not a bad idea to keep her entertained. But my fear is I would buy one and she'd find it boring after a while."

In a reply, another cat owner agreed: "Oh yeah. If you buy something like this FOR a cat, they'll ignore it. If it's for an entirely different purpose, it'll be the most interesting and entertaining thing they've ever discovered!"

Former veterinary hospital manager Ingrid King wrote on her website The Conscious Cat that: "Play is vitally important to a cat's mental and physical health, and it's especially important for indoor cats. Even though cats may sleep up to 16 hours a day when they're awake, they need stimulation, and the best way to accomplish this is with play."

In later responses, the poster SpookyPie20 explained that Meep the cat even gets in and out of the bouncer without help. "All on his own," she wrote, "[He] just decided to try it one day and does it constantly.

"He either just runs and jumps on top and slides in or tries to get in through the bottom leg holes."

If your cat is particularly lively in the early hours, Zoetis Petcare shared some helpful facts: "Cats are masters at training us. Your cat is likely waking you up early in the morning because they woke you up once before and you either fed them or gave them attention.

"To stop your cat from waking you up at inopportune times, you'll have to give them something else to do—a distraction that's more rewarding than waking you up."

After bringing joy to the comments section of the popular Reddit forum r/cats, one commenter wrote: "Get this cat an Instagram STAT!" to which the poster replied: "I did start one but haven't posted anything yet...even though I have enough pics and videos to do so. I'll try to work on that this weekend."
