According to the site's outage map, CenturyLink is not working throughout the U.S. with a majority of the reports coming in the midwest and the Pacific northwest.

"Our network is experiencing a disruption affecting customer services. We understand some customers are currently unable to generate tickets through the CenturyLink help portal," CenturyLink said in a statement to Newsweek. "We know how important these services are to our customers and we are working to restore services as quickly as possible."

As of 3 p.m. EST, CenturyLink still appears to be down. The CenturyLink outages drew the ire of Federal Commucations Commisioner Jessica Rosenworcel.

"This is a nationwide outage," Rosenworcel tweeted. "The @FCC investigation needs to start now."

The CenturyLink Twitter help account initially did not release any public statement regarding the widespread outages, only replying to individual accounts with generic statements like "I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble getting a hold of us. If you could send us a DM, we would be happy to assist you further."

Many CenturyLink users tweeted their grief over the services being down.

"My wait time went from 5 minutes to 247 - I've been disconnected 4 times via phone and now I am waiting through chat," Twitter user Barry O'Neill wrote.

"Hey CenturyLink can you fix the nationwide outage? I have some Red Dead Redemption 2 to play," another user tweeted.

Many CenturyLink users asking the company why it's not working have not been able to get in touch with the company.

"I've been trying to get technical assistance for more than an hour @centurylink @CenturyLinkTech," Twitter user Fred Baca wrote. "I can't get on the internet. Every time I call for support I get disconnected! What gives? Poor service."
