Chelsea has made a u-turn on its decision not to offer John Terry a contract extension after announcing the club captain has been handed a new deal.

Terry, 35, is said to be “considering the offer” from the club having revealed in February he would be leaving Stamford Bridge as a deal was not forthcoming.

The announcement was made at the press conference on Friday at the club’s training complex in Cobham.

The former England captain has been at Chelsea since the age of 14, and has captained the Blues to victory in the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup.
