Ted Cruz Posts Video From Woman's Destroyed Home in Israel Amid Debris: 'One Terrorist Murdered a Woman'

Sen. Ted Cruz who is currently visiting Israel in the aftermath of the country's recent 11-day conflict with Palestine, shared a video showing a damaged home he said was decimated by Hamas in the city of Ashkelon, saying the home was "bombed by terrorists."

"All of this came from one Hamas rocket, one terrorist, who murdered a woman in Ashkelon," Cruz said at the end of the video he posted on Tuesday.

Ashkelon is a coastal city in southern Israel, located about eight miles from the border with the Gaza Strip. In the clip, the Texas Republican toured the home, describing the damage in front of him. Next to crumbling walls, he pointed to what he said was the elderly resident's bed.

He said that while the older woman was able to evacuate, her caretaker did not. Next to the bed, he said, is where the helper lost her life. He also pointed to the gaping opening at the top of the dwelling where he said the rocket landed.

On Monday, Cruz posted photos of the same home. He captioned the first photo he tweeted with the words: "Heartbreaking. Countless times, I've seen a Mezuzah hanging on a door frame. This is the first time I've seen one on a home bombed by terrorists."

Other photos showed a metal walker as well as a wall where cracked picture frames hung.

Cruz was joined on the trip by fellow senators Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Bill Hagerty of Tennessee. All three serve on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. The trio arrived to Israel on Sunday to voice support for Israel and assess the damage from the 11-day conflict, which ended with a ceasefire on May 21.

Graham and Haggerty also toured the same home and also posted videos. Haggerty captioned his video with the message: "This is the result of recent attacks by Hamas and other Iran-backed terrorists here in Israel. This is cowardice at its worst."

Graham also met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday.

"No one has done more for Israel than you, Sen.@LindseyGrahamSC, a stalwart champion of our alliance and we have no better friend," Netanyahu said of Graham on his official Twitter account. "I want to thank you for everything you've been doing over the years on our defenses, our security, on Iran. You've been a tremendous friend and ally."

The post included a photograph of the the two men with Graham holing a sign that read: "More for Israel."

"The longer Joe Biden shows weakness to Hamas or Hezbollah or Iran, the more you're going to see terrorist attacks escalating," Cruz told the Associated Press on Monday after visiting Israel's Iron Dome defense system after seeing the damage in Ashkelon.

"Appeasing terrorists doesn't produce peace," he added.

Newsweek contacted Sen. Cruz's office for further comment, but did not hear back in time for publication.
