Dad Torn Apart Online After Sleeping With Daughter's 'Very Pretty' Friend

A man is being dragged online after confessing to a one-night stand with his daughter's best friend.

User u/Affectionate_Tea_852 drew the wrath of the internet after sharing his story to Reddit's TrueOffMyChest forum on June 26. In his post, the divorced dad explained that his daughter has a "very pretty 21-year-old friend" that he "couldn't resist," but is now regretting his decision to spend the night with her.

He wrote: "'if I was younger, I'd totally date her.

"She's my type. Blonde, tall, cute face, kind etc.''

Although the woman had always been "nice to him," they had recently begun flirting.

He wrote: "She started calling me daddy over text, she said 'your daughter is so lucky, I wish you were my daddy.'

"She texted me at night to ask me a question (it was an excuse, of course), I replied to the question, but she kept the conversation going.

"She said 'I'm in bed right now but can't sleep... honestly I'd totally want a hug.'"

The poster said he's "not a horny dude drooling over young girls" and the woman was the only one of his daughter's friends that he found attractive. Although he is seeing someone else, the man wrote that he doesn't consider the one-night stand with his daughter's friend cheating, as he and this other person are not an official couple yet.

However, he is terrified of his daughter finding out about the fling.

He continued: "Yesterday she suddenly said 'we need to talk' and it scared the hell out of me.

"Basically every time I see her I'm like 'I hope she hasn't found out, I hope she hasn't found out, I hope she hasn't found out.'"

The post received a lot of attention from Reddit users, garnering over 12,000 upvotes and almost 3,700 comments in less than 24 hours.

For a 2021 study, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology surveyed 263 students to assess how often people experience regret after a one-night stand. Aged between 19 and 37, 37 percent of women and 20 percent of men reportedly regretted a night of no-strings sex.

Researchers found that women were more likely to regret a one-night stand due to concerns over sexually-transmitted infections and pregnancy. However, the "quality of the partner" was also an influence. If the participant found their one-night stand partner physically attractive, they were less likely to regret the encounter.

Reddit users had little sympathy for the man, with DanielleDrs88 saying: "There is no legitimate excuse to f*** your daughter's friend.

"It also doesn't sound like you have any actual remorse."

Esmifra agreed, writing: "You chose to escalate things.

"It was a conscious decision that you had plenty of time to reconsider you chose not to."

Many users warned the man that family secrets have a way of coming out.

"As a woman I tell you: women talk!" said No-Mathematician678.

"You can 100% count on your daughter finding out, that girlfriend of hers that you banged won't keep that a secret for long," wrote bikingsol0.

"As a daughter of a creepy father, she won't look at you the same," cautioned redditforagoodtime.

While others shared their own stories of broken parental relationships.

"I work with a girl whose father did a similar thing to her when she was in her early 20's," said bonzyyio. "She cut him out of her life. She was just telling me about it this past Father's Day. So gross."

While cocomimi3 commented: "My dad did this with my best friend and we were both 18, I found out a couple years later and let's just say it was not pretty.

"I am 49 years old now and I don't speak very much to my father, well let's just say I don't speak to him at all."
