The viral TikTok recounting events, captioned, "I think we should make all dads across America start doing this #fyp #dadsoftiktok #tallguy #barrettfriends," has been viewed 3.8 million times and liked 211,000 times since it was shared on March 25.

According to Statista, in a survey in the United States, 40 percent of respondents revealed their relationship with their father was "very good." The rest of the results included 15 percent claiming the relationship is "rather good," with 7 percent having "no contact" with their father, 7 percent with mixed results, and 1 percent had a "rather bad" and "very bad" relationship with their father. In addition, 29 percent of people said their father was deceased.

The short five-second clip, shared by TikToker @savcav9, or Savannah Cavanaugh, was accompanied by music as a father stood by his son in the stands of what looks like a University of Texas sporting event. The stadium was filled with burnt orange adorned fans. The father, in a burnt-orange checkered shirt and grey vest, was holding a beverage in one hand and his phone in the other.

On the device was a list of names titled, "Barrett friends," allegedly listing the names of his son's friends, seemingly to keep track of them. His son stood by his side and appeared to look at the screen during the viral moment.

"This dad has an entire notes page dedicated to remembering his son's friends' names," the screen read in text overlay and was also said out loud.

Over 700 comments came pouring in over the father's efforts, which didn't go unnoticed. In fact, people seemed to appreciate the dad. "That's honestly an amazing dad," a TikToker pointed out.

Another viewer noted the "effort" that went into the note. "OK, but why is this so cute?" they added. "I love it."

Other comments of approval included things like, "OK, that's adorable," "Dad of the year," and "Why does this make me tear up?"

One TikToker hopes the father's son "knows how much his dad cares."

Some people are taking note of the life hack. "Oh, that's a great idea," a viewer said. "My son has so many friends with the same names."

Another viewer thinks the father is doing a "good job," adding, "No shame. I can't even remember names of people I know."

However, one TikToker thinks "most good dads" already do this type of thing, adding, "With phone numbers and their parents' names too."

Other people admitted they too have similar lists to remember names. "Yep, I'm the same," a viewer said. "I have a list of friends and another of our neighbors. Essential lists!"
