First Disney and Marvel Games Showcase Date and Time Announced

Disney and Marvel revealed a surprise showcase that will take place as part of the D23 Expo next month. The aptly-named Disney and Marvel Games Showcase will feature upcoming titles and updates from Disney & Pixar Games, Marvel Games, Lucasfilm Games, and 20th Century Games.

While we've seen game-related announcements at D23 before, this will be the first showcase to focus exclusively on the topic. Importantly, its existence marks a significant reversal of course concerning Disney's policy on gaming.

In 2016, the company shut down all internal game development in favor of licensing its properties to third-party studios. Since then, many games featuring its properties have been announced as part of Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft showcases. So this may be an indicator that Disney wishes to bring things in-house a bit more.

Disney and Marvel Games Showcase Date and Time

The Disney and Marvel Games Showcase airs at 1 p.m. PDT/4 p.m. EDT on September 9, 2022. It'll be available on the following channels:

  • D23 Expo Official Website

  • Disney's official YouTube, Twitter, Twitch, and Facebook pages
  • Marvel Entertainment's official YouTube, Twitter, and Twitch pages

Those attending D23 Expo 2022 can watch the showcase live on the Premiere Stage.

A timeframe hasn't been given for the stream yet, but similar events last around 30 minutes to 1 hour, and we anticipate the same for this one. After the showcase, viewers can stick around for a presentation featuring interviews, guests, and giveaways.

What Titles Will Be at the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase?

The official announcement for the Disney and Marvel showcase says:

"The digital showcase will feature incredible new content from Disney & Pixar Games, Marvel Games, Lucasfilm Games, and 20th Century Games. In addition to all-new announcements, fans can expect new reveals from titles including Disney Dreamlight Valley, Marvel's Midnight Suns, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, and a sneak peek at the upcoming Marvel ensemble game from Skydance New Media."

We're definitely intrigued by the unannounced Skydance New Media title, which is headed by Amy Hennig of Uncharted fame. However, it's the "all-new announcements" that have our imaginations running wild.

In particular, we're hoping to see at least one of several Star Wars games in development. Perhaps we'll finally see the open-world Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment title, or at least a full reveal of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
