District Attorney Richard Goldinger has told Newsweek that the shooter who fired at former President Donald Trump is dead.
Minutes into Trump's rally speech in Butler County in Pennsylvania, loud popping noises were heard and people crouched down. Trump appeared to fall on the ground, and when he stood back up, there was blood running down his face. Trump was rushed off the stage by Secret Service.
In addition to the shooter, a rally attendee was killed, Goldinger told the Associated Press.

"Someone just tried to ASSASSINATE President Trump. The Democrats and the media are to blame for every drop of blood spilled today. For years and years, they've demonized him and his supporters," GOP Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Trump's campaign said the former president is "fine."
"An incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania," Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi wrote on X. "The Secret Service has implemented protective measures, and the former President is safe. This is now an active Secret Service investigation and further information will be released when available."
The Secret Service "neutralized the shooter" and "quickly responded with protective measures," according to Guglielmi. The incident is being investigated as an attempted assassination.
Law enforcement officials told a press conference they have a suspect but are not prepared to identify the person.
Police said they were following up on reports that witnesses had flagged law enforcement about "suspicious occurrences" before the shooting.
The FBI is now assuming the role of lead federal law enforcement agency into the investigation.
"Special agents of the FBI Pittsburgh Field Office responded immediately, to include crisis response team members and evidence response technicians," the statement reads. "We will continue to support this investigation with the U.S. Secret Service and state and local law enforcement."
Anyone with information that can assist the FBI is asked to call the tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said in a statement that his department and the Secret Service are working with law enforcement.
"We are engaged with President Biden, former President Trump, and their campaigns, and are taking every possible measure to ensure their safety and security," the statement reads. "Maintaining the security of the Presidential candidates and their campaign events is one of our Department's most vital priorities."
Trump was seen with blood on his face and later reported that a bullet had grazed his ear. One crowd member was killed, and two others were critically injured, according to official reports.

The former president's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. posted to X that "he'll never stop fighting to save America."
An emergency department physician told CBS News Saturday night that he thought the sounds "were firecrackers to begin with" but then heard someone yelling "he's been shot, he's been shot."
"The guy had spun around and was jammed between the benches," the man told CBS News. "He had a head shot here. There was lots of blood, and he had brain matter."
A helicopter came in while the man was being interviewed.
