Lewis was a New Jersey native. Per Bravo, he attended Clark Atlanta University in Georgia for Fashion Design for a little bit. He had a self-titled clothing line and served as a creative director for Stephen F., an Italian menswear company.
In 2019, he competed in the hit fashion design show and came in 10th place. His designs were judged by fashion superstars Karlie Kloss, Nina Garcia, Brandon Maxwell, and Elaine Welteroth.
Besides Project Runway, his work has graced the Emmys red carpet, been showcased on FX's Pose by client Diva Davanna Booker, and been worn by celebrities like Leah Janae and Cynthia Bailey, according to the Bravo website.
On Tuesday, February 25, fellow Season 18 alum Brittany Allen shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram for Lewis. She posted a carousel with a photo of them from the show and a screenshot of a few sweet text messages in which they both expressed love for one another.
"I don't have the words. My heart aches. The world and this industry will be dim without your light in it," she penned in the caption. "Your love, your laughter, and your continuous support no matter where we were in life was everything. Season 18 forever and ever. Rest in power @shavilewis. Love, your Brit Brat."
Lewis' cause of death has not yet been revealed.
