Jack Quaid wants to stalk the hallways of Rapture. That's what Quaid said in a recent Reddit AMA while promoting his new action comedy "Novocaine." When fans asked about his dream role, Quaid answered, "I would actually love to be in a live-action adaptation of 'BioShock'—one of my favorite games of all time. I think there's such a rich lore to that game that could be explored in a TV or movie adaptation."

On one hand it's an exciting response. Quaid could potentially make an excellent Jack - the protagonist from the first 'BioShock' game who descends into the underwater city of Rapture only to find danger waiting for him around ever corner.

On the other hand, it's a somewhat curious response because a movie adapting 'BioShock' is currently in development with Francis Lawrence attached to direct. Presumably, Quaid already knows Lawrence because he was directed by him in 2013's "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire." So, you would think Quaid could get a meeting with Lawrence without too much trouble.

The road to an adaptation of "BioShock" has been a long one. Gore Verbinski was attached to a "BioShock" film for Universal as early as 2008; only a year after the game was released. When the studio got skittish about its $200 million budget, Verbinski split and the project sank.

Collider reports that while the Netflix project is still alive, it could be going through similar changes. "BioShock" producer Roy Lee said after restructuring at Netflix, the film's development was overhauled. "[T]he new regime has lowered the budgets on some things, so we're doing a much smaller version of the movie," Lee said. "But it's eventually going to get made with Francis Lawrence directing. It's gonna be on a more personal point of view as opposed to a grander, big, epic movie."

In "BioShock" you play Jack, the sole survivor of a plane crash in the ocean. Your only choice at survival is to go deeper into the ocean to Rapture: an underwater city founded by the objectivist businessman Andrew Ryan. By the time you arrive, Rapture has fallen into chaos, with almost the entire populace made up of creepy Little Sisters, the massive Big Daddys who protect them, and the drug addled Splicers.

In 2010's "BioShock 2" you play a kind of prototype Big Daddy, while in the last game to be released so far, 2013's "BioShock Infinite," you leave the ocean for a city in the skies called Columbia.
