The Claim

On Thursday, May 6, Amber Heard delivered testimony in front of a jury as part of Johnny Depp's defamation trial against her in Fairfax, Virginia.

The actress detailed instances of alleged abuse at the hands of her ex-husband and also spoke about other aspects of their relationship.

A rumor spread on Twitter that Heard took lines from the film The Talented Mr. Ripley while delivering her testimony.

One claim from Twitter user @TheBuzzerUK said: "See below, parts of Amber Heard's testimony yesterday is directly from movie, The Talented Mr. Ripley."

While another claim came from @AuditTheAbsurd who tweeted: "OMFG. Check this out. Amber Heard on the stand yesterday and what she said compared to the lines in The Talented Mr Ripley. Holy smokes this is CRAZY. #JusticeForJohnnyDepp."

This tweet showed a side by side comparison of the quote from the movie with a quote claiming to be lines from Heard's testimony.

The movie quote is: "The thing with Dickie... it's like the sun shines on you, and it's glorious. And then he forgets you and it's very, very cold ... When you have his attention, you feel like you're the only person in the world, that's why everybody loves him so much."

While Heard was accused of saying this in her testimony: "The thing with Johnny... it's like the sun shines on you, and it's glorious. And then he forgets you and it's very, very cold ...."

Many Twitter users shared screenshots purporting to compare Heard's testimony with dialogue from the film's script.

"When I was around Johnny I felt like the most beautiful person in the world—then he would disappear," Heard said in her testimony.

In other parts of her testimony, she describes how Depp made her feel like a "million dollars."
