Fortnite: How to Survive a Storm

Fortnite, like other battle royale games, is all about being the last player standing. But there are multiple facets of this multiplayer game that you have to worry about in addition to avoiding death, like the storm that constantly advances throughout your time in each game.

Just like PUBG, Call of Duty: Warzone, and all of the other similar battle royale titles of that ilk, Fortnite has a system in place to draw players closer together to force them into coming into contact. Every game, players must run to avoid the oncoming storm, signified by a series of dark clouds rolling in.

The storm itself is actually a sentient being, and it's a dangerous area that you must stay away from if you don't want to die. As it progresses, the longer you remain caught in the storm, the more damage you'll take. So if you don't want to lose the game because you stayed out in the storm too long, it's in your best interest to move forward.

Here's everything you need to know about how to survive a storm in Fortnite.

If you want to survive as many rounds as possible in "Fortnite," you'll need to know how to escape the storm. It's an extremely ominous sight that will drain your health if you don't get away fast enough. Epic Games

Fortnite: How to Survive the Storm

As usual, you'll want to remain vigilant if you want to avoid being picked off in Fortnite's Battle Royale mode without making any progress. As soon as you enter the map, you'll have an invisible clock ticking down. The Battle Bus will drop you off and you can fly down to your desired destination on the map. Then, you have about 1 minute until the storm circle's destination is shown. You'll see it, marked with an enormous white circle on the map.

This is where you need to start making fast and difficult decisions. If you dropped far enough from the storm circle, you have about three and a half minutes (three minutes and 20 seconds, to be exact) before the storm will touch you. Then, you have another three minutes before the growing storm will reach the edge of the circle. You have about six minutes and 20 seconds from that point to survive.

"Surviving" means grabbing supplies and getting ready for a fight, as you'll have to run on the map away from where the storm is located. Of course, everyone else is doing that too. So you'll need to make sure you're good and ready to defend yourself if you need to while there's a mad dash to escape the storm. You'll want to do everything you can to escape the circle, mark our words. Because you'll be damaged at a rate of 10 points a second as long as you remain in the circle, and that's not fun, no matter how you slice it.

Bottom line? When you see the circle drop, then start running away from it. Gather supplies, be ready to fight, and find a new place to hide from combatants until you're ready for a skirmish. Then wait for the cycle to begin anew. The trick is not being caught up with everyone else. You should be fine if you adopt an avoidant play style with that in mind.
