Fortnite update 4.5 has arrived as version 1.65 on PS4. The small patch brings the Dual Pistols, new Back Blings and the Playground LTM to Battle Royale, as well as more Blockbuster quests to Save the World. The patch notes are fairly extensive this week, so let's get right to the changes.

There's so much in Fortnite update 4.5 that it's difficult to know where to start. The Dual Pistols and Playground Mode are obvious highlights for free players of Battle Royale, but the changes to the Collection Book in Save the World can't be overstated. More avenues for progression is always a good thing with so many systems in play, even if it doesn't work for some of the more exclusive rewards. On the Battle Royale balance side, it's also interesting to see Epic prioritizing the SMG meta while continuing to nerf shotguns. The changes aren't monumental, but they're worth pulling out of this very long list.

Fortnite 's Playground LTM has been in the works for quite some time and was delayed for several weeks before finally making its debut in update 4.5 today. It's not very deep in terms of combat or gameplay, but it's cool to see players interacting with Fortnite from a creative perspective rather than a competitive one. While there were some concerns amongst players that Epic might reduce the importance of Fortnite's unique building mechanic, this update emphasizes it.

Fortnite update 4.5 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and iOS. It's listed as version 1.65 on PS4.
