‘Fortnite’ Update 3.5 Adds New Quests, Arid Map, Weapons & Bug Fixes

Fortnite update 3.5 won’t release until next week, but we already know a few details about the fixes and new additions it might feature. Thanks to the latest Dev Update and the game’s public Trello board, we have some idea of what to expect across Save The World and Battle Royale.

‘FORTNITE’ SAVE THE WORLD UPDATES FOR 3.5 & BEYOND

Starting with Save The World, the Dev Update tells us next week’s patch will feature a brand-new map set in an arid biome. As expected, the change in locale arrives alongside new art, heroes, quests and weapons that add fresh gameplay elements to the campaign. On the balance side, Outlander will be reworked to be more competitive with other classes. Impulse grenades are also also being tweaked to only deal damage to the player who throws them. That damage will be buffed as well.

Further in the pipeline, the ability to reroll weapon perks and a full player reporting system are actively being worked on. As a reminder, Save The World players should be aware the Spring It On questline concludes April 11 at 8 p.m. EDT.

‘FORTNITE’ BATTLE ROYALE FIXES FOR 3.5

While there are lots of bugs currently listed for investigation on the Fortnite Trello board, only a handful of them have been confirmed for fixes in 3.5. Here’s a quick recap of what we know so far.

  • Random Controller Vibrations
  • Weapons Float In Midair: This is typically caused by switching weapons or cycling into build mode too quickly.
  • Unable To Build Even With The Right Materials
  • Hitching and lag on PS4 and Xbox One: This will be fixed by improving load speeds and removing errors that may be blocking loads.

While not confirmed for focus in 3.5, other possible fixes include problems with editing, player muting and the rendering of small objects.

The most interesting fix on this list is the one on the very top for “random controller vibrations.” Some players who still support the Tilted Towers comet theory used vibration as a possible hint of events to come. If those vibrations are happening in error, it suggests some of that past speculation may be incorrect. Even though the data mine looks convincing, unused assets aren’t always a foolproof indicator of the future. Regardless, it sounds like Fortnite update 3.5 will be an interesting one.

Fortnite is in early access across PS4, Xbox One, PC and iOS.
