Woman Shares Odd Method To Make Your Silverware Sparkle Using Foil

Cleaning your house is often hard work. You sweep the floors, and polish the surfaces, but that is by no means is the end of it.

Many items make a house a home and they also require rigorous upkeep—one of these is, of course, silverware.

How does one keep those pesky utensils looking as good as new, when they tend to dull or scratch over time?

Well, one woman has taken to TikTok to share her surprising hack for solving this problem... and it involves using aluminum foil.

Carolina McCauley, known on the video-sharing app as @carolina.mccauley, posted her creative method on June 1, along with the caption: "This dishwasher hack will leave your silverware sparkling."

She continued: "#kitchenhacks #homehacks #dailyhacks #cleaningmotivation #hometips."

But, how does it work?

Well, the footage begins with the McCauley showing the camera a scratched and dull-looking spoon, instructing viewers to "take some foil" and then "roll it into a ball."

After doing this her hands can be seen putting the scrunched foil into the cutlery tray inside her dishwasher.

McCauley then explains that viewers should wash the utensils as usual before pulling out some immaculate spoons, which clearly shine brighter.

The hack is effective because there is chemical reaction that happens with the aluminum and the dishwasher tablet that helps to break down the dirt on the cutlery.

The video has so far received more than 141,600 views and 10,200 likes.

Many rushed to the comments section to share their thoughts on the method.

One TikTok user, Ascenith Games, wrote: "Why it could work: There's a hack to clean tarnished silverware by boiling baking soda with alum foil and soaking."

Another person, Kitty, added: "Omg I wish I had a dishwasher."

Mom_cleaning typed: "I'm trying this now wowww."

Catherine Chadd commented: "Sorry but this has been around for years but thanks for reminding me."

Whereas Susu stated: "Makes sense, I use aluminum foil to scrub the zinc and it's amazing!"

However, this is by no means the only clever cleaning hack that we have learned thanks to TikTok.

Recently a mom shared her method for reviving white clothes and removing unsightly sweat stains.

Chantel Mila, who goes by the online moniker @mama_mila_, posted a video outlining her method, and the secret ingredient is denture tablets.

The mother of two explained to viewers that you have to: "Soak in warm water + 2 denture tablets for 1/2 hour."

Next she instructs people to was their clothes "as usual" and the result is visibly brighter clothing.
