A hairstylist was baffled by what a long-time client sent her a photo of—but she may have just started a new trend.
Whitney, based in Southlake, Texas, works as a hairstylist and regularly posts about salon life, including jaw-dropping hair transformations, to her TikTok account @whittaylorhair.
In March, she took part in an online trend where business owners share the unusual messages they receive from their clients—and Whitney's video was a hit, racking up close to 600,000 views.

She began by sharing a photo of herself in the salon, along with the words: "Sometimes you gotta read your client's text and go on about your day."
The next slide showed the message from a client, who had sent a photograph, and asked: "Hey Girl! I was wondering if we could dye my hair this color my next appointment?"
At first this might not seem so unusual—but the final slide showed a zoomed-in version of the photograph: a crow, standing on the ground in what appears to be a park.
"Not the mf CROW," Whitney wrote in the caption, adding: "Goodbye."

...
Whitney told Newsweek: "She genuinely just meant she wanted me to add blue to her black formula," and assured viewers: "She knows I made the video and thinks it's hilarious. All in good fun."
And very quickly, it emerged that viewers were a big fan of the idea—as the crow's black coloring shone with a dark blue sheen.
"I feel like crow hair could definitely become a trend, she's onto something. Like a very dark oil spill look," one commenter suggested, with Whitney responding: "Did she just start a trend omg."
"At first I was like 'girl wtf' then I kept looking at the bird and I'm like '[you know] what I want that too,'" another admitted, as another declared the client is "actually real for this."
And stylists shared their own wild stories, one writing: "I've had a client send me a worm on a string as inspo and another that sent me a handful of beans."
"I had a client that brought in a rock bc she wanted that exact same color," another said.

...
Whitney told Newsweek she was "a little surprised" at how popular her video got, and loved "how creative" the comments became.
"It was cool to see how everyone interpreted the photo and color," she said, and added that while she hasn't done this particular project yet, she's "sure" the client's crow-inspired hair will turn out well as "I've done her hair forever."
