How to Watch the New York City Marathon

More than 50,000 recreational and professional runners from around the world will take to the streets of New York City's five boroughs Sunday for the 45th annual marathon.

Millions of fans are expected to gather along the 26.2-mile route, which starts at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in Staten Island and traverses streets of Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx before finishing in Central Park in Manhattan.

Race directors set five different start times to handle the large number of participants. Professional women will begin running in the first wave at 9:20 a.m. ET on Sunday. The last group is scheduled to cross the start line at 11 a.m.

With so much going on surrounding the massive marathon, you may be wondering: How can I watch?

Marathon Week

The marathon's Opening Ceremony was held Friday in Central Park. Runners from around the world paraded across the marathon finish line. WABC-TV, Channel 7 will air a countdown to the start early on Sunday, from 7:30 to 8 a.m. It also will be streamed on Watch ABC and ESPN3 and will be accessible on WatchESPN platforms.

Race Day

In the New York tri-state area: Watch the marathon broadcast live on WABC-TV from 9 to 2 p.m.

Pre-race coverage will be carried live on WABC-TV, Channel 7, from 7 to 9 a.m. Viewers can live-stream the race on ABC7NY.com and via the WatchABC smartphone app, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For the rest of the country: Watch live coverage from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and via WatchESPN on computers, tablets, smartphones, Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 and Xbox One with video subscriptions from affiliated providers.

The race will be available in Spanish via ESPN Deportes+.

Pre-race and continued coverage will be carried live nationally on ESPN3 from 7 to 9 a.m. ET, and from 12:30 to 2 p.m. ET.

On mobile devices: The broadcast will be live on tablets or smartphones with WatchABC in New York and WatchESPN nationwide. Access to Watch ABC and WatchESPN is available through participating TV providers.

Around the world: International viewers can watch the broadcast live from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET via a variety of global broadcast partners. They should check local listings for more details.

Finish Line

Family members and friends can watch their runners cross the finish line with the "Find Your Finish Cam" from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Track a Runner

Fans can download the 2015 TCS New York City Marathon Mobile App to track their favorite runners and follow race-week and race-day events. Live, on-map tracking of as many as 10 runners will show their split times at the start, as well as every 5K, half and finish. The app also includes a spectator course map with points of viewing interest along the route.
