Jim Gaffigan Snaps After RNC, Goes After Trump: 'We Need to Wake Up'

Watching the Republican National Convention last night got a bit too much for comedian Jim Gaffigan who had some harsh words for Trump supporters.

The Troop Zero star, 54, launched into a lengthy tirade on Twitter against President Donald Trump, whom he labeled a " liar and a criminal," as well as sharply criticizing those who support him.

"Look Trumpers I get it. As a kid I was a cubs fan and I know you stick by your team no matter what but he's a traitor and a con man who doesn't care about you," one tweet reads. "Deep down you know it. I'm sure you enjoy p****** people off but you know Trump is a liar and a criminal."

"I know you hate snobs and elites I get it but look at Ivana and that d***** bag Jerod," Gaffigan raged. " Think they are on your side? Do you think they've ever done a real days work in their lives. Wake up.

"You know he lies. Constantly. Yet you dont care? What because he insults people that make you and me feel dumb?"

Gaffigan also took at aim at former Notre Dame football coach Lou Holtz, who attacked Joe Biden over his faith in an RNC speech this week. Holtz said the former vice president "Catholic in name only" because he's an advocate for abortions.

"F*** Lou Holtz," he wrote. "Biden is Catholic in name only? Compared to who? How many abortions did trump pay for? How many women has he raped? How many times did pull the shit he did in Ukraine. Wake up. He's a crook and a con man."

He added: "What bravery from the cowards who are against equal justice. Wake up. Don't you know history will make you the fool."

Referencing former President Barrack Obama, Gaffigan tweeted: "Please dont buy that socialist c*** either. Obviously Obama wasn't a socialist. This is all lies to scare you and you know it. Biden is not radical. Are you serious?

"Remember everything Trump accuses the Democrats of he's guilt of. Dont let the socialist name calling distract you from the fact he is a fascist who has no belief in law."

Gaffigan urged Trump supporters to "wake up" while also criticizing Fox News.

"Trump derangement syndrome is part of the con. Wake up. you know Fox News is biased and full of loons. it's how they gaslight and silence criticism. Do you think any of those congressional republicans really believe in Trump or do they fear him dont want to end up like Flake," he said.

The tweetstorm led to the comic's name trending on the social media platform, with many congratulating him for speaking his mind.

However, some told Gaffigan to stick to the comedy—which he also refuted, saying: "By the way you can't be against Cancel Culture and tell people to stay out of politics. You know that time you did a job and didn't get paid? That's trump and you know it."

Gaffigan ended his tirade with a final warning to those who plan to vote for Trump in November: "If you want to sound crazy please tell me about THE DEEP STATE. To sound stupid please be against CANCEL CULTURE but then accuse anyone with an opinion of Virtue signaling. Trump Derangement Syndrome is meant to distract from the con of Don."

Heading to bed but remember
- If you want to sound crazy please tell me about THE DEEP STATE.

Gaffigan's remarks come as the RNC ended with a firework display set to Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah"—much to the disgust of fans of the late singer.
