NBA Rumors: Is LeBron James Hinting at Miami Heat Return in Instagram Photos?

LeBron James made perhaps the most famous—or infamous—decision in the history of professional basketball when he left the Cavaliers for the Miami Heat in 2010.

James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh formed what James wouldn't want you to call a superteam in South Beach, winning two NBA Championships, before James split in 2014 to return to Ohio.

On Sunday, James was back at American Airlines Arena, sort of. "A ton of great memories riding past her [sic] today!!" The 32-year-old Akron native posted alongside an Instagram picture of the Heat's home, followed by another of the Miami skyline showing Biscayne Bay.

Miami's Sun Sentinel newspaper reports that James is in Florida on his summer break. Wade, who led the Heat to its first-ever NBA Championship in 2006, was one of the first people to "like" James's posts. Clearly Wade, now with the Chicago Bulls and in the twilight of a Hall of Fame career, and James still hold a ton of affection for their years together under head coach Erik Spoelstra.

Does James's affection towards the Heat mean anything at all in the context of his next "decision" in the summer of 2018? Almost certainly not. The Miami Herald reports the Heat, which is starved for cap space, doesn't believe James is "seriously interested" in returning to the scene of his first two NBA titles.

James's Cavaliers deal, which has three seasons left to run, allows him to opt out next summer. At this point in his career, James is believed to be looking at business interests as well as more titles. The Los Angeles Lakers are rebuilding with the No. 2 overall draft pick from 2017, Lonzo Ball, and James has business opportunities in California. Plus, Miami may be about to disappear under water, turning American Airlines Arena into something more like a water-polo venue.

James still likes Miami, that much is clear. But the Heat are part of his past, and they are probably going to stay that way.
