Lionel Messi has broken almost every Barcelona scoring record in existence, but the Argentinian maestro appears determined to set ever higher standards for himself.

Messi struck a perfect free kick for Barcelona at the weekend against Sevilla, stepping up with the score at 1-0 to the Andalusians and curling the ball unstoppably past Rico Gonzalez, the Sevilla goalkeeper.

It was reigning Ballon d'Or winner Messi's sixth goal direct from a free kick in La Liga this season, more than any other player. He has now reached 30 goals in all competitions for the eighth successive season, while Barcelona is now unbeaten in 34 games in all competitions.

And the strike was perfectly captured by fans behind the goal at Camp Nou as it arrowed into the top corner.

But whichever way you look at it from, including this traditional viewpoint, it is another fabulous goal from the world's greatest footballer of the moment.
