Madame Tussauds Amsterdam Places Wax Trump Figure in 'Quarantine' After COVID Diagnosis

Madame Tussauds Amsterdam apparently couldn't resist playing off of the news with its latest display. After President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump announced that they had been diagnosed with the coronavirus on Friday and said they would be quarantining, the Amsterdam wax museum placed its own Trump figure in quarantine as well.

The tourist attraction's Instagram shared a picture of Trump's wax figure—decked out in a suit and tie, and also wearing a medical mask—propped up behind a glass display window. Black and yellow tape hangs over the figure, as well as two signs that read, "Caution: Quarantine Area."

"Trump is also quarantined at Madame Tussauds Amsterdam," the caption, translated into English, reads. "Stay safe!"

Some Instagram users enjoyed the faux-quarantine zone. "This is amazing," one wrote. "Is this fake news?" another jokingly asked.

The Amsterdam location opened in 1972, and is home to many wax figures, including Johnny Depp, Ariana Grande, Princess Diana, George Clooney, Taylor Swift, the Avengers, Barack Obama and the Dalai Lama.

Trump and the first lady were tested for coronavirus on Thursday night after one of the president's top advisors, Hope Hicks, tested positive. Hicks had traveled with them on Air Force One to the first presidential debate against Joe Biden in Ohio on Tuesday.

"Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19," Trump tweeted late Thursday night. "Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!"

Hours later, he revealed the results of the tests. "Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19," Trump tweeted early Friday morning. "We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!"

Melania also took to Twitter. "As too many Americans have done this year, @potus & I are quarantining at home after testing positive for COVID-19," she wrote. "We are feeling good & I have postponed all upcoming engagements. Please be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together."

The Trumps are currently isolating in the White House.

Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, have tested negative for the virus, the former Vice President revealed on Friday.

Jared Kushner, Ivanka Trump, and the president's son Barron have all tested negative, along with Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen.

Newsweek did not receive comment from Madam Tussauds Amsterdam at the time of publication.
