Man Goes Viral on TikTok for Taking Pet Calf to Dairy Queen

On a whim last month, Mason Corkery of Jesup, Iowa, decided to treat his pet calf Gucci to dessert at a nearby Dairy Queen drive-through.

While waiting in line behind several other cars, Corkery, apparently cognizant of the absurdity of the situation, began to document it, filming as Gucci slathered his ear in kisses and downed a pup cup's worth of vanilla ice cream.

"Yeah, you're going to town on that thing, man," he exclaimed in the video, clearly impressed by the size of Gucci's appetite. "Look at you go! Yeah, Gucci, get it, man. Yeah, you party animal."

Corkery posted the video on TikTok and went to bed, according to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.

When Corkery woke up, he found that he had become an internet celebrity. By Thursday morning, the video had been viewed more than 6.6 million times and liked more than 1.9 million times.

"I went to visit him [Gucci] and for whatever reason that's what I did. I just thought it would be a fun stunt to pull off. I don't know why I do a lot of things I do," Corkery, whose TikTok bio reads "Iowa farm kid who loves to entertain," told the Courier of the inspiration for the video. The pair's sudden fame has netted them invitations to appear on CBS News and ABC's Good Morning America, among other news outlets, according to the Courier.

Corkery, who majored in animal science at Ellsworth Community College and now cares for newborn calves at Hook Stock Farms, began working with Gucci shortly after Gucci and his twin sister, Boujee, were born prematurely, according to the Courier. Corkery named the now-eight-month-old Holstein after the high fashion brand because he believed that he deserved "something fancy – he's not an ordinary cow," he said.

Recognizing the strength of their bond, Brady Cook, the owner of Hook Stock Farms, permitted Corkery to keep Gucci, saving him from the slaughterhouse. Now, Gucci resides on Corkery's parents' nearby farm. There, Corkery stops by to see him twice a week. It was on one such occasion that he had the bright idea to take Gucci out for ice cream.

Since the clip first went viral, Corkery has received dozens of requests to take Gucci to Chick-fil-A, the restaurant chain known for its bovine mascot. He doesn't plan to disappoint his fans, he told the Courier. This coming Saturday, he said he plans on making the trip. It's now or never, he said, because Gucci will soon be too big to fit in the cab of his pickup truck.
