A man's lighthearted jibe at his wife's frequent coffee habit has left viewers online in hysterics.
Ryan, who is known on Reddit as u/obvious-swimming-332, took to the platform on September 22 to share what he had surprised his other half with after growing tired of her tendency to abandon her mugs of coffee before they are finished. The post, which has been upvoted more than 46,000 times, has sparked 700-plus comments, many of which reference a hilarious mug the man gifted his wife.
Viewers online are able to see an image of the customized mug, which has an array of photos of unfinished mugs of coffee printed on it. Amid the collage of pictures of near-finished mugs of coffee, or empty mugs with a few drops of coffee left in them, is the name "Nikki."

"My wife and I are happily married in Madison, Wisconsin," Ryan, who would prefer to keep his full identity private, told Newsweek. "For a few years now we have been brewing our own coffee at home in attempts to be more frugal and stay away from the daily $8 drive through coffee.
"I do hot pour over coffee in the winter months and a ton of cold brew in the warmer season, my wife loves it when I have it ready for her in the morning. For whatever reason beyond my comprehension, she has a hard time finishing anything in liquid form."

The inventive idea has garnered plenty of laughter from viewers online, many of whom have voiced their amusement at the gift in the comments section. Some have shared how much they relate to the wife's habit of leaving some of the drink every time she makes a coffee.
"Soon you can make another custom mug made of pictures of her not finishing her coffee in that mug," one viewer, u/upsidedownfurnace, said.
Another, u/rkramden, added: "Mugception."
"When I met my (now) husband, he had a mug with a picture of an ex-girlfriend drinking out of a mug with a picture of him on it," a third viewer, u/littlewhiteboots, shared. "So, naturally I took a selfie of me drinking out of it and made it into a mug for him.
"So this random bimbo from Bakersfield still lives in our cabinet and it's kind of funny to me."
"MUG OF SHAME," u/johnthearchivist, said.
"That is a hilarious mug," u/lifeisradincbad said. "Also: like homebrew beer, you [have got to] leave a bit for the Gods."
"My wife does the same thing! Every cup. At least now she flips her cup in the sink so it drains before dumping it (splashing) into the dishwasher though," u/velocitopher commented. "Small wins."
"My wife calls the little bit left 'the poison'. Why would she drink the poison?" viewer u/zapthe said. "I don't know if that's an old fashioned phrase or just something she says. I think her grandmother used to say it as well."
"Some viewers were offended, thinking this was a negative reaction to my wife's innocent coffee leftovers," Ryan said. "I have no opinion, really. I spend my time making sure she gets what she wants, and the occasional 'thanks' makes it worth my time.
"The mug was a Christmas or birthday gift I think. I only joke with her because it is not something I do, but we are all different, and that is the spice of life."
